This Saturday: Matthew 11:12–15 — A Hard Saying from Christ

Some passages of Scripture comfort immediately. Others confront.
Matthew 11:12–15 is one of the more difficult sayings of Jesus:
“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence…”
What does Christ mean when He speaks this way?
What does He mean about the Kingdom suffering violence and the violent seizing it?
What is the relationship between John the Baptist’s ministry and the mission of Christ?
Why does Jesus conclude with the searching words
“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”?
It's a section of "Difficult Scripture" that needs interpreting. It's not just about interpreting, however, but about response.
This Saturday we continue our verse-by-verse exposition through the Gospel of Matthew, finding the depths of meaning in God's Word. We go to Scripture to interpret Scripture and let the words of Christ speak with their full weight.
